Quite simply, I got bored one day. I was talking to a fellow fansubber who remarked that a workflow bot would be pretty cool. I said, "That's a good idea," and here we are today. I purposely wrote these tools with the intent of them being able to be used, so please if you're interested let me know. Just send me a message on the irc.rizon.net network, user Radicand.
Konata-chan is an IRC bot that handles fansub workflow, and keeps it in sync on the web and in IRC. Because fansubbing is often done by a team of people, it's not always easy to keep track of what's going on between people working different roles in different timezones. Konata-chan helps to alleviate that by tracking project statuses and assignments. In addition to the IRC interface, there is also a read-only web interface (public and private versions up). I want to finish the read-write private site, but just haven't had time. It would essentially let you do on the website what you can already do via the bot.
Konata-chan was used by Mendoi Fansubs prior back when they were active. Their public site can still be located here. It functioned by updating the staff-channel topic with the latest information whenever someone finished or started a phase. You can check out the bot command reference guide here.
